Sheldon will be sadly missed. I have used his site on many an occasion to gather tips, and also for the sheer joy of reading his words.

Sheldon never knew it but he saved my life in 2001 after I was hit by a truck in TX. I was confined to bed even after I was cleared to return to work, when I wasn't working I had to be in bed. I had to build a recumbent bike to ride because of my injuries, but didn't have any wheels I could use with the frame I had, so I had to build 20" road wheels from parts. I used the instructions from the wheel building pages on Sheldon's web site and didn't go crazy and kill myself because I had to spend so much time in bed staring at the ceiling. I built wheels instead, balancing everything on my lap and using the sheets as my workbench.
